Overview
The MIR480I utilizes the powerful MARANI DSP for signal processing. Both the DSP and the AD/DA converter operate at a 96KHz sampling rate. This comprehensive system offers a complete solution for speaker crossovers.
From input processing (including gain, delay, noise gate, EQ, compression, and FIR) to output adjustments (such as gain, delay, polarity, crossover, FIR, EQ, compression, and peak limiting), the parametric equalizer (PEQ) provides up to 16 filter types to choose from. Additionally, the output crossover filter includes classic options like Ringquitzrelli, Bessel, and Butterworth, along with the NXF (Notched X-over Filter) and FIR filter with a slope of up to 120dB per octave. The newly introduced MIR linear phase crossover filter simplifies phase engagement at the crossover point and reduces latency, all in pursuit of superior sound quality.
The MIR480I also introduces the concept of plug-ins, allowing dynamic processing beyond what traditional processors can achieve. These plug-ins, powered by a co-processor, handle tasks like dynamic balancing, linear phase multi-segment compression, and feedback suppression. The architecture is open, and the variety and quantity of plug-ins will be periodically updated.
Furthermore, the Hard Limiter design ensures consistent rate limiting for signals that exceed the threshold, enhancing speaker protection. Each input/output channel supports a filter with a maximum of 512 tap FIR. You can utilize the built-in AutoEQ alongside an external ASIO sound card for pulse measurement and FIR coefficient generation. Alternatively, third-party software can be used to generate FIR coefficients as needed. For speaker presets, improved phase response and controlled directivity are achievable.
Lastly, the MIR linear phase crossover combines the shape of a traditional IIR filter with zero phase distortion and approximately 50% less delay compared to the FIR filter.
