M28

28 Channel Digital Rack Mixer

Overview

The M28, a high-performance digital mixer, is a 3 rack unit device. Its front panel is equipped with 24 input connectors, 16 of which can function as either MIC or LINE inputs. In addition to these, there are 6 AUX Output channels, two of which can be mirrored as Monitor Outputs, and the primary LEFT and RIGHT channels, all available via XLR connectors. Furthermore, there are 8 Line Inputs accessible through ¼ Jack connectors. A ¼ Jack connector is also provided for an earphone, featuring adjustable gain and functioning as a MONITOR OUTPUT.

The M28 supports USB stereo recording. By connecting a USB stick to the front panel’s USB connector, the M28 offers stereo or dual-channel recording and playback, with the option to select the recording source from input and output channels. The M28 is powered by the robust MARANI® DSP engines, providing a range of sophisticated audio processes such as up to 1024 taps FIR filtering on MAIN LEFT and RIGHT Outputs, Effects, Ducker, RTA, Feedback Eliminator, Automixer, and more. Each input and output channel is equipped with Parametric Equalization, RMS Compressor, delay, and other useful processes. A 31 bands graphic Equalizer is also available on each output.

The M28 includes a WIFI module, making it easier to connect the device with its dedicated PC interface software or iPad APP for real-time monitoring and parameter editing, particularly useful in studio and live performance applications. Each device can support up to 4 WiFi connections (PC or iPad) and 10 Ethernet connections (PC), allowing a total of 14 devices to be connected simultaneously.

Any changes made to the M28 settings from one of the devices are automatically reported to all other connected devices. Firmware updates can also be performed via a simple software operation.

The M28 comes with 24 embedded channels, but can be expanded to include 4 more Input Channels via extension cards. These extension cards can vary, allowing the extra 4 channels to come from different sources such as standard analog ones, AES, or Dante™.

Features

28 Input Channels:
The device includes 28 built-in input channels, consisting of 16 MIC/LINE and 8 LINE channels.

Input Channel Features:
Every input channel features a 2nd order High Pass (HP) filter, a Noise Gate function, an RMS Compressor, and an adjustable delay time.

Extension Cards:
can accommodate 4 input channels from an extension card, which can be 4 LINE, 4 AES, or 4 Dante™ channels.

Phantom 48V Power:
Any microphone connected to the 16  MIC/ LINE Inputs will have a selectable Phantom 48V Power, which can be turned on or off as needed within the software.

AUX Outputs:
The device also features 6 AUX Outputs, with 2 of them capable of mirroring the Monitor upon selection. It also has 2 Main Left and Right Outputs and 2 Monitor outputs on a stereo ¼ Jack.

MAIN and AUX High Pass & Low Pass Filters:
Both MAIN and AUX outputs come with a High Pass/Low Pass (HP/LP) filter that can slope up to 24dB/Oct. They also include an RMS compressor, a feedback eliminator, and an adjustable delay time.

Up to 1024 Taps:
Besides the Dynamic Filter, the MAIN output also includes a FIR with up to 1024 taps. The FIR coefficients can either be produced by the internal Wizard Tool or imported from a Third Party Application in the form of .txt or .csv files.

Silencer™:
equipped with 16 Silencer™ MIC Preamps.

Overflow Control:
Includes an Automatic Overflow Control feature for removing clipping in internal processes.

Parametric Equalizers (PEQ):
Each input channel is equipped with 4 Parametric Equalizers (PEQs), which can be set as Bell, Hi/Lo-Shevling, or Morph EQ. These settings allow for the adjustment of the EQ’s frequency, type, and Q, while controlling the gain to enhance vocal or instrumental performance.

Network Interface:
The device can be directly connected to a PC using the Ethernet Connector located on the front panel. Additionally, it supports WIFI connectivity to PC interface software for real-time monitoring, settings adjustments, and control. It also has the capability to support connections with multiple devices.
